Busy little bees

I've been quite the busy little bee, and the website update is only the first of my new things to talk about!

July 2020

Welcome

Welcome to the first blog post on my new and updated website!

After a few years of developing my skills and upgrading my equipment I looked at my website and was shocked by how I had left it be. The poor thing needed some love and attention. It needed a whole make over, and what girl can say no to that?! So I dug in and moved things around a bit, fiddled here and there, and decided it just wouldn't do.. so I scrapped the whole thing I had going on before and started from scratch.

Now I can present to you my shiny new face and all the new things that have come along with it.

My new Camera!

...yes. it got a newborn shoot...

newborn photo shoot for our new nikon D750 camera

I am pleased to announce we have a new member in the family, we managed to upgrade from the little red Nikon crop sensor to a big black full frame Nikon and man are we happy with our new arrival. If you loved little red though don't worry! She is still hanging around as back up support and teaching my girls the ropes.

My new camera has a lot to do with why I updated my website. Having a full frame sensor means more light and more data, which means more data for me to work with. That combined with the maturing of my editing skills means my work has evolved enough from when I started my journey that the old website wasn't accurate any more.

So, about the website?

I've got something to blog about!

Let's start with the feature right under your nose: my blog.

It's true I tried the whole blog thing once before and then left it sitting forgotten in a corner collecting dust bunnies, and now those dust bunnies have grown up and have collections of their own... But that was then: my blog was directionless and something I "should" be doing.

What's different this time? I'm glad you asked! Teehee. This time I have a plan for what sort of things I will be posting about; instead of saying "hey look at this session" (because that's what Facebook is for) I am dedicating my blog to showing and telling the stories behind my digital art and the occasional note about what's going on in my studio life.

Gotcha, what else?

it's all about the drops, bout the drops

a sample of my physical backdrops for photoshoots

One project I've been trying to get done since I started my journey was getting my physical backdrops up where people can look over them before they come see me. (They can be found in the About drop down box) I've taken pictures of them all at least 3 times now and TADAA, here they are!

Starting this year I have been able to add in digital backdrops and I will also be developing photo art and composite art as options for you. Photo art will be a quick on demand option such as an 8x8 Father's Day image, while composite art will have a processing time and will be much more complex, such as turning you into fairies.

All digital backdrops, photo art, and composite art will be available with a photography session or can be made with pictures that you provide me.

*The quality of my end result will depend on the quality of the images I have to work with.

Time to wrap it up?

Like a birthday present!

Last but certainly not least I got some new props along the way that can be used for your photo shoots with me, and I even have them tucked up in the About drop down box for you to check out. Some of them come with a styled shoot such as a fruit bath, and some of them are just for fun.

And that's it!

Thanks for reading along and keep on dreaming.
